canvases

These works are a continuation of my Visual Diary works. From a technical perspective, the project employs a mixed-media approach (combining collage, acrylics, oil paint, pencil, and charcoal) on canvas. Stylistically, these works blend abstraction with stylized figurative art. My aim is to make balance between these two approaches, using their fusion to create dynamic, authentic images. With their strong composition and symbolic storytelling, these pieces evoke the visual language of theater posters and church icons. These works explore what lies behind the human face—and what resides within our psyche. I’m particularly excited by the idea of exploring, through the symbolic representation of the human figure, the depths of human suffering and joy. By using consistent stylistic elements in each painting—large areas of color, dynamic compositions, and the emphasis on certain body parts, particularly the face and hands—I aim to capture a person’s internal state at a given moment. Some of these works are diptychs or triptychs, representing specific situations, while others are more “classic portraits” of one or more people.
